Abstrakt

Stanislawow province was one of the borderland provinces of The Second Polish Republic and was part of Eastern Małopolska. This area was inhabited by people of several nationalities - Ukrainians, Poles, Jews and Germans but the dominant group were Ukrainians. The fact that the numerical superiority of the Ukrainian population over the other nationalist groups shaped to a large extent, the internal situation of the province Stanislawow. Its manifestation in the first period of the province in the years 1921-1923 were the attitudes of the population towards the important events that took place on its territory. Their example was especially avoiding the Ukrainian population from participating in the census in 1921, and the boycott by a significant percentage of Ukrainians parliamentary elections in 1922. The reason for such behavior of the Ukrainian community was among its vulnerability to anti-Polish propaganda, conducted by the Ukrainian environmental disagreeing with the nationality of Eastern Małopolska to the Polish, as well as the fear of the consequences of terrorist actions organized by the Polish state hostile to the Ukrainian militia. On the attitude of the population of other nationalities Stanislawow province consisted of both loyalty, indifference as well as looking at taking action of their own interests.
