In the following article, the author describes self-presentation as a specific social interaction. It is presented as a concept typical for Goffman’s dramatic paradigm-presentation in front of other people. The writer outlines the participants in the spectacle and explains the roles they play in it. The article also recounts the sources of motivation to maintain a chosen image and mechanisms influencing it. Finally, the author signifies the manipulative aspect of self-presentation, the functions of one’s behaviour and possible causes of mishaps during the act. The article deals as well with the impact of attractiveness on the perception of those individuals and the role of self awareness in managing communication skills.
