Bibliography of Siedlce - reflection on waht was and what may be

Abstract

The article addresses the issue of regional bibliography and its role in documenting publications relating to a specific town or region. Regional bibliography is an important element od bibliographic systems, it is a showcase of a locality, promoting its achvievements in all fields. Creating a bibliography is a neverending process because we can never claim to know all the publications on a given topic. The author discusses the history and terminology related to local bibliography, as well as the development of regional bibliigraphies in Poland. It emphasizes the need to stabilize and develop regional bibliographies and establish a uniform scheme for the layout of the main bibliography.
