Abstract

After 1989, the availability of higher studies in Poland increased. Historical studies also became more popular. After a few years, however, the problem of teaching quality decrease was noticed. Therefore, standards for every field of study, including history, were developed. It was not the end
of changes. From 2007, two-cycle studies were introduced. Each modification resulted in the decrease of the number of hours assigned to subjects related to historical epochs and methodological ones. Consequently, historical studies became practical studies preparing graduates for work in certain professions.
