Abstract

The image of World War II in the literature is most often concerned with front-line events, the heroism of soldiers, the tragedy of the civilian population interned in concentration camps, or deported to forced labour. The above themes can be found in the works of authors from Czech Cieszyn Silesia. The image of war is presented in the literature on the example of texts by two writers, Henryk Jasiczek and Wieslaw Adam Berger. These writers represent different artistic and political attitudes and published their texts at different times. What united them was the experience of war in their early youth and their extraordinary sensitivity to human misfortune.
