Abstract

Religious security refers to ensuring the freedom of belief, religious practices, and protection against all forms of discrimination, violence, or persecution related to religious beliefs. The concept of religious security also encompasses the safeguarding of places of worship, religious buildings, and other resources associated with religious practices. Religious security impacts overall public safety, as acts of violence and discrimination against religious communities (as well as acts of violence committed by religious groups) can have negative social and political consequences. Religious security in the Slovak Republic is governed by relevant legal provisions and constitutional guarantees. The system of religious security in Slovakia has its strengths, such as protecting religious freedom, but also limitations that can be detrimental to certain religious groups.
