Illegal Migration on the Territory of the Republic of Poland in 2019-2022

Abstract

The main purpose of the article is to introduce the importance of the role and protection of the national border in the case of threats from illegal migration. The article shows the definitional framework, division and characteristics of the phenomenon of migration. Legal regulations on the status of a migrant, refugee status and the capture of crossing the state border in violation of the law were analyzed. The article takes a detailed look at the scope and extent of illegal migration occurring in recent years in the Republic of Poland. The purpose of the article was to answer the questions: what is the protection and defense of borders at the national level of the Republic of Poland in terms of the migration crisis and illegal migration? Has the number of illegal migrants arriving on the territory of the Republic of Poland changed in the perspective of the past years? Are there real justifications for the arrival of migrants to the territory of the Republic of Poland? The research method used in the article is an analysis of the research literature and available statistics of the Border Guard, in particular, data on crossing the state border in violation of the law.
