Abstract

The motif of authority is one of the most significant motifs in Victor Pelevin’s works. The author is interested in many forms of authority in Russia: politics, media, money, language, religion and literary critics. The impact of authority on man’s consciousness and identity is reflected in Pelevin’s novels. On the basis of selected works (discussed in this article), it can be concluded that Victor Pelevin is a keen observer and satirist, criticizing not only the realities of Russian life, but also the social order of the modern world.
